Whether navigating coastal waters or crossing open seas, SALTY LADY offers a reliable and refined platform for those who value both adventure and enduring craftsmanship. A handsome yacht with an instantly recognizable profile, she is astrongly built, raised pilothouse trawler with a high prow, intended for those who take their cruising seriously. She’s builton a semi-displacement hull with moderate beam, hard aft chines to reduce roll (rather than rounded bilges common tomost displacement designs), and a long, prop-protecting keel.

Designd by James Backus and Gary Grant, and built in Taiwan, a total of 18 Independence 45s were made. Productionwas relocated to the U.S. in 1996 where the well-regarded Cherubini Boat Company built hull #19 that same year. Thedeck plan, which has remained essentially unchanged over the years, differs from many pilothouse designs in that bothstaterooms are reached via a companionway from the salon. Visibility from the raised pilothouse is excellent. Lackingside decks, the full-width salon is particularly spacious with plenty of seating space and room for a large U-shapedgalley.
